It is deemed to be a university located in Patiala, Punjab and second campus in Derabassi, Punjab.

An Institution of Higher Education, other than universities, working at a very high standard in a specific area of study, can be declared by the Central Government on the advice of the UGC as an Institution Deemed-to-be-university.

It has a campus area of 250 acres.

 

Credit Transfer Program :

Thapar University has an international partnership with Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.

In credit Transfer Program a student completes his first two years of engineering course at Thapar ( Punjab ) and is sent for the next two year at trinity college.

Total of 70 students from including all branches take part in this programme on the basis of their performance in the first two years at TIET.

Admission Process:

There are two modes of admission in Thapar:

1. JEE Main Basis ( 70% seats )

2. Boards Basis ( 30% seats ), after filling seats via JEE Main Score.

50% seats are reserved for Punjab Candidates which has a drastic effect on cutoff score.

NOTE:

But this year due to COVID-19, they had a different admission procedure.

Admissions were done on the basis of class 12th board score in PCM in three rounds and a separate round was done for vacant seats via JEE Main basis.

Cutoff :

From next year they will follow their previous pattern, so you can assume the 2019 cutoff applicable to 2021.
